BRIANIE GETS TRIPLE TOP

British teenager Brianie has toppled the mighty Clay Walker to land her first Hotdisc number one with "Daddy's School", and doing so she makes it three number ones in one week as she also tops the Independent and British Independent charts, a very rare achievement for a Brit. Dave Sheriff last did it with "Hearts And Flowers" and the only other to achieve the triple top was Lucie Diamond last year with "I Wanna Be Rich". Michelle Wright's "Everything And More" leaps to number 2 while last week's highest entry at number 2 from Daniel O'Donnell is knocked back to 4.

George Hamilton IV gets a 15 place rise to land at number 7 with his cover of "When I Dream" but the highest climber of the week comes from new American indie act Lucas with "Ain't It Beautiful" which rockets up to number 21.  Another American act, duo Marshall-Petrone, have also had a good week with their first single in Europe. "Grab Your Beer" is up 10 notches to 20.

The brand new official Hotdisc Chart show, presented by Jackie Storrar, goes online for the first time on CMR Nashville Radio this Saturday morning at 10am as part of her "Country Cafe" programme, but you can hear the show every week on our home page at www.hotdisc.net

If you want to hear the Top 12 you can now do so by listening to the Hotdisc Jukebox - a new innovative feature on our website.

NEWS IN BRIEF...

Good to hear from Reg Keyworth, the Australian guitarist-singer-songwriter who has been based in the States for some time now. He's currently in Phoenix, Arizona, putting together his next music project. You can hook up with him at his site at www.myspace.com/regkeyworthband

Peter Dula is a courageous man. The 27 year old from Slovakia has already had a rollercoaster of a life and among the highs he's been a very successful hockey star and a popular act on the country music circuit along with his band The Rowers, whose current single is inside the Hotdisc Top 10, a duet with Joe Diffie.  But on the downside he was diagnosed with cancer. He was successfully treated for it, but recently the cancer returned and he is battling hard to lick it again. But he faces a huge bill running into thousands of pounds - 30 in fact - so he can be treated at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.  It's a major operation and he's appealing for donations to help him pay for it. He's releasing an album which will be a limited edition signed CD and he is hoping for donations of 50 dollars or more to keep his dream alive. You can donate at www.myspace.com/dreamalive1

Congratulations to Maverick magazine editor who is this year's recipient of the CMA Wesley Rose International Media Achievement Award for outstanding achievements in the media. The award, which began in 1990, goes annually to someone who has contributed to the development of country music outside America. The award was presented by CMA European representative Bobbi Boyce.

Irish singer Bernadette, who has been living in America for many years, is working on new music and is interested in hearing from songwriters who have fresh material they can submit to her. Go to www.bernadettesings.net for more info.

Veteran star Houston Wells is making a bit of a comeback right now. The man who charted in the Sixties with hits like "Only The Heartaches" and "This Song Is Just For You" with legendary producer, the late Joe Meek, has a double CD just released on Jasmine Records featuring re-mixed versions of his original tracks and brand new material. Houston is now in New Zealand but his 48-track double CD is bound to attract a lot of interest. His current single, "Lonely Street", has shuffled up to number 30 in the Hotdisc chart this week and two further singles as well as an exclusive interview are scheduled for later in the year. In the meantime go to www.jasmine-records.co.uk for more information.
